Application Engineer -- Metal Removal Technology Division - Dallas, TX and Iowa / Illinois

We are seeking a highly energetic and intelligent Applications Engineer in our Illinois and Iowa Territories who is responsible for:

  • Demonstration of floor machines
  • Performing time studies or process improvement recommendations to the sales department.
  • Providing technical phone support.
  • Developing turnkey proposals for integrating machinery and equipment into the manufacturing process. 
  • Overseeing machine installations.
  • Developing and testing alternative processing methods.
  • Conducting research, drafting proposals and presenting proposals to customers.
  • Performing on-site customer programming and machine operation training to customers.

To join the Hartwig team, the ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications:

  • Two-year degree in Manufacturing Engineering or work experience equivalent.
  • Previous work history should include machining process development, project management, exposure to technical sales, CNC programming skills and a strong mechanical background.
  • Okuma machine programming experience is desired but not required.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and application of machine tool products, options and functions.
  • Have a strong mechanical/technical aptitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and customer relationship building.
  • Be proficient in all aspects of using Microsoft Office software, CAD/CAM software and personal computers
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Occasional travel required.

Desktop Support Engineer -- St. Louis, MO

We are seeking a highly energetic and intelligent Desktop Support Engineer who is responsible for:

  • Providing support for desktop computers, office equipment and connections to remote sites.
  • Confer with users and IT personnel to develop new approaches or alternatives to ensure that user assistance is being provided effectively and efficiently.
  • Train users in learning new company-provided applications and assists in problem solving for applications issues.
  • Maintain network and PC preventive maintenance logging efforts to ensure network and data integrity. 
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose data communication issues.

Sales Engineer - Houston TX, New Mexico, Louisiana and Arkansas

  • Developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of the Machine Tool Industry and all products and services sold.
  • Maintaining a thorough knowledge of competitor products to ensure Hartwig is on the cutting edge of technology. 
  • Determining customers and prospects, needs and solutions.  Determines Hartwig ability to provide a solution that meets their needs.
  • Managing critical projects through installation and ensures customer satisfaction through initial run off’s.  Ensures continued communications and up to date feedback to/from internal team to customers. 
  • Maintaining a strong teamwork relationship with all internal customers; Division sales teams, Service, Applications Engineering, Parts, and Training.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in the Manufacturing Sector (Machine Tool/industry related experience a plus).
  • Must have a strong mechanical/technical aptitude.
  • Must have strong negotiation and persuasion skills and demonstrated problem solving and decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and customer relationship building.
  • Experience in project management and time management.
  • Experience and application of basic computer skills including sales software such as “ACT”, Word and Excel.
  • Must have strong initiative, competitive nature and strong goal orientation.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
  • Must have good credit history and ability to obtain and use personal credit card for business expense.

We are seeking a highly energetic and intelligent Service Engineer who is responsible for:

  • Performing troubleshooting and problem solving of CNC Machine Tools.
  • Conducting high quality, efficient and timely repair, preventative maintenance, and machine/tooling installations as assigned.
  • Training and instructing customers, and internal team members, on proper installation, service/repair procedures for current and new equipment/machines and processes.
  • Consulting with other team members, internal departments and/or external vendors to resolve issues related to installation and service/repair.
  • Accurately documenting, completing and reporting required information for work records and reports.
  • Continuously reviewing current processes and searches for improvement methods.  Recommends modifications and improvements to machine/equipment, processes and procedures.

  • Two-year degree in Manufacturing Engineering or work experience equivalent.
  • Preferred Formal education/training in the troubleshooting, repair and installation of CNC Machine Tool Products but not necessary.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in the troubleshooting, repair and installation of CNC Machine Tool Products.
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Demonstrated application and commitment of customer satisfaction.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to maintain professional conduct when dealing with customers, peers, builder representatives and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated self-starter and effective planning and organization skills.
  • Able to use PC and job related software/programs for programming, documentation/record keeping.
  • Occasional travel required.
